We specialise in Traffic Law which covers unlawful activities involving a motor vehicle. We can assist you if you are facing charges under the Land Transport Act 1998. These charges can relate to the manner of driving, from careless driving to dangerous or reckless driving. It also includes driving whilst disqualified and driving with excess breath/blood alcohol (drink driving) offences which is treated seriously in New Zealand.

Traffic Law can become technical and complex and it is important that you fully understand the substance of charge(s), its application to your case, any defence you may have and the process involved. Penalties for traffic convictions vary from fines and mandatory disqualification to imprisonment. We will clearly advice you on penalties you will likely receive if you plead guilty or are convicted following a fair trial.

In carrying out the analysis of your charge, we will:
  • Check whether the driving allegations match the type of offence you are charged with
  • Check whether a correct charge has been laid and where possible negotiate for a lesser charge
  • Check whether police has sufficient evidence to prove the charge
  • Check if there is a defence to your charge
  • Check your eligibility for a diversion or a discharge without conviction (no record of conviction for the charge in question)

Commercial Drivers

We also assist commercial drivers in their dealings with Land Transport New Zealand. If you hold Transport Service Licence (TSL) or Good Service Licence (GSL) or provide passenger services or vehicle recovery services, we can assist you if you are having issues with Land Transport Authority including questions to your fitness and propriety and/or your compliance affecting your ability to continue to hold the licence(s).
